Bio
Shonen Knife is a Japanese rock band formed in Osaka in 1981, founded by Naoko Yamano with Michie Nakatani and Atsuko Yamano. The band became internationally known for its distinctive blend of Ramones-style punk, Beatles-inspired pop melodies and bubblegum pop, with playful songs often centered on food, animals and everyday life. The band released its debut album, Burning Farm, in 1983, and gained a strong following in North America, the UK and Europe. Their unique sound and DIY approach eventually connected them with the international alternative-rock scene, including Nirvana, whose members were major fans of the band. Shonen Knife has continued releasing music and touring internationally for more than four decades.
