Soilent Green is an American extreme metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana, formed in 1988. Renowned for their unpredictable songwriting and technical musicianship, the band fuses grindcore, sludge metal, death metal, hardcore, black metal, and Southern rock into a chaotic yet groove-driven sound. Their music is characterized by blistering blast beats, crushing riffs, abrasive vocals, and unexpected bluesy and Southern-influenced passages, making them one of the most distinctive acts in the American underground metal scene. The band has released acclaimed albums including *Pussysoul* (1995), *Sewn Mouth Secrets* (1998), *A Deleted Symphony for the Beaten Down* (2001), *Confrontation* (2005), and *Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction* (2008). Alongside fellow Louisiana bands such as Eyehategod, Crowbar, and Acid Bath, Soilent Green helped establish New Orleans as a major hub for sludge and extreme metal.
