Spineshank formed in 1996 and quickly became part of the late-90s/early-2000s wave of American nu metal bands that blended heavy riffs with electronic production. They gained wider recognition after signing with Roadrunner Records, a major label in the heavy music scene. Their most commercially successful period came with the release of The Height of Callousness (2000), which helped define their industrial-leaning, tightly produced sound. After lineup changes and a hiatus in the 2000s, the band later reunited for live performances.
