Strike Anywhere is an American punk rock band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 1999 by vocalist Thomas Barnett after the breakup of his previous band, Inquisition. The group became known within the international punk and hardcore scenes for their fast, melodic style and politically conscious lyrics. Their music blends the speed and aggression of hardcore with melodic hooks, featuring energetic guitars and emotionally charged vocals that alternate between singing and shouting. Strike Anywhere gained wider attention in the early 2000s with their debut album Change Is a Sound (2001), which included the song “Refusal.” The track appeared in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground, helping introduce the band to a broader audience. Lyrically, the band is known for addressing political and social issues such as police brutality, anti-capitalism, globalization, animal rights, and women’s rights, reflecting the group’s strong activist stance within punk culture. Over the years, Strike Anywhere has released several influential records including Exit English (2003), Dead FM (2006), and Iron Front (2009), while continuing to tour internationally and remain active in the global punk scene.
