Origin: Melbourne, Australia Nick Sowersby started recording under the Sunbeam Sound Machine name in 2013, initially releasing EPs One and Sunbeam Sound Machine as home / bedroom recordings. First studio album Wonderer released in late 2014; this brought wider attention and toured nationally and internationally. Follow-up album Goodness Gracious came out in May 2019, described by Sowersby as more moody and reflective, documenting a period of change and uncertainty. Later album Possum released in October 2022. Most recently (as of mid-2025), album Double Magic is released. His sound is known for lush production, layering, use of effects like reverb, dream-like textures, combining moody electronics with guitar, synthesiser, and multi-instrumentation.
