Takuya Nakamura

Bio

Takuya Nakamura is a Tokyo-born, New York-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer renowned for his innovative fusion of jazz, electronic, and experimental music. With a career spanning over three decades, Nakamura seamlessly blends trumpet, piano, and synthesizers, creating a distinctive sound that bridges organic and electronic realms.​ Nakamura's musical journey began in Tokyo, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in music composition from Kunitachi College of Music. Driven by a passion for jazz theory, he moved to Boston in 1990 to study under the legendary George Russell at the New England Conservatory, obtaining a Master's degree in composition and jazz performance. During this period, he performed with avant-garde luminaries such as John Cage and György Ligeti, and participated in George Russell’s Living Time Orchestra tour across the U.S.
