Bio
The Damned are an influential English rock band formed in London in 1976 and widely recognized as pioneers of the UK punk movement. They made history as the first British punk band to release a single ("New Rose"), a studio album (*Damned Damned Damned*), and tour the United States. Over a career spanning five decades, the band has continually evolved, expanding from their raw punk roots into gothic rock, psychedelic, and new wave influences while maintaining their distinctive theatrical style. Led by vocalist Dave Vanian alongside longtime members Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies, Paul Gray, and Monty Oxymoron, The Damned remain one of the most enduring and innovative bands to emerge from the original punk era, continuing to record and tour internationally.
