The Darkness is a British rock band formed in 2000, widely recognised for revitalising glam‑tinged rock in the early 2000s with a bold, high‑energy style distinguished by soaring falsetto vocals, blistering guitar work and flamboyant stage presence. Their breakthrough came with the 2003 debut album Permission to Land, which included major hits like “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” and “Love Is Only a Feeling” and helped establish them as one of the UK’s most beloved rock acts. The band achieved significant critical and commercial success early in their career, including three BRIT Awards (Best British Group, Best British Rock Act and Best British Album) and multiple Kerrang! Awards. After a hiatus in the late 2000s, they reunited in 2011 and have continued releasing albums and touring worldwide. Their music retains a blend of classic rock swagger, theatrical showmanship and catchy, anthemic songwriting. They remain a highly energetic live act and maintain a strong fanbase in markets including Australia, where they regularly tour and perform their iconic hits alongside newer material from albums such as Dreams On Toast.
