Bio
The Drones were an influential Australian rock band formed in Perth, Western Australia in 1997 by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Gareth Liddiard. Renowned for their uncompromising sound, poetic lyricism, and intense live performances, the band blended raw rock energy with blues, punk, and experimental influences. Over nearly two decades, they earned widespread critical acclaim, winning the inaugural Australian Music Prize for their 2005 album *Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By* and releasing acclaimed records including *Gala Mill*, *Havilah*, *I See Seaweed*, and *Feelin Kinda Free*. After going on hiatus in 2016, members Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin formed Tropical Fuck Storm, while The Drones reunited for select performances in 2025 and 2026.
