Bio
The Kovenant is a Norwegian metal band formed in Hamar in 1993. Originally performing under the name Covenant, the band built its early reputation with a symphonic black metal sound before changing its name to The Kovenant in 1999 following a legal dispute with a Swedish band of the same name. At the same time, the group evolved toward a futuristic blend of industrial metal and cyber metal, incorporating electronic and EBM influences while retaining elements of extreme metal. Their critically acclaimed albums, including *Nexus Polaris*, *Animatronic*, and *SETI*, earned multiple Norwegian Spellemann Awards and established them as one of the pioneers of combining black metal with industrial and electronic music. After a lengthy hiatus, the band reunited in 2024 and resumed live performances featuring material spanning both their symphonic black metal and industrial eras.
