The Midnight are an American electronic duo formed in 2012, consisting of songwriter–producer Tim McEwan and singer–songwriter Tyler Lyle. The project is known for its nostalgic, synth-driven sound inspired by 1980s pop, film soundtracks, and retro-futurist aesthetics. Their music blends lush synthesizers, saxophone leads, emotive vocals, and cinematic storytelling, often exploring themes of youth, memory, love, and late-night escapism. They gained early attention with tracks like “Days of Thunder” and “WeMoveForward,” before breaking through with albums such as Endless Summer (2016), Kids (2018), Monsters (2020), and Heroes (2022). The Midnight have developed a strong global following and are known for translating their studio-heavy sound into expansive live performances with a full band setup.
