The Spook School were an Edinburgh, Scotland indie-pop quartet formed by Nye Todd, Adam Todd, Anna Cory and Niall McCamley. Their sound combines catchy C86-style indie pop with the energetic punch of punk, drawing comparisons to the Shop Assistants and Buzzcocks. Their songs are known for direct, passionate writing around gender, sexuality, identity and queer issues. The band released their debut album, Dress Up, in 2013, followed by Try to Be Hopeful in 2015 and Could It Be Different? in 2018. Their music balances noisy guitars, infectious melodies and DIY punk energy with an upbeat, celebratory spirit. The Spook School announced their breakup in 2019 after completing a farewell tour, with their final show taking place in Glasgow. They later reunited for two 10th-anniversary performances in Glasgow and London in December 2023.
