Bio
The Stems are an influential Australian garage rock and power pop band formed in Perth, Western Australia, in 1983 by Dom Mariani and Richard Lane. Their sound draws heavily from 1960s garage rock, 1970s power pop and punk, characterized by fuzz-heavy guitars, energetic performances and catchy melodies. The band gained a strong following with releases including “Make You Mine,” “Tears Me in Two” and their acclaimed 1987 debut album *At First Sight, Violets Are Blue*. After initially disbanding in 1987, The Stems reunited several times and remain an active live band. Their current lineup includes original members Dom Mariani, Julian Matthews and Dave Shaw, alongside Davey Lane.
