Total Freedom is the stage name of Ashland Mines, an LA‑based DJ, producer and artist known for pioneering experimental club / deconstructed club DJ styles. He co‑founded Wildness (a notable underground party) in Los Angeles and was central to the Fade to Mind collective, which helped shape sounds blending R&B, grime, ballroom house, pop, noise and club music in unpredictable, high‑contrast ways. Mines’s sets are celebrated for their genre‑agnostic, collage‑like construction, incorporating elements of rap, dancehall, kuduro, breakbeat, pop vocals and abrasive textures — often using DJ equipment as an instrument to craft chaotic but compelling sonic experiences, and featuring at fashion shows, art institutions and clubs worldwide (including Australian club events in the past)
