Toy Shaw is a self-produced singer-songwriter from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa/New Zealand, now based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by her mother's love of country music and artists such as The Chicks, Maybelle Carter, Neko Case, and Loretta Lynn, she taught herself clawhammer banjo and developed a distinctive sound that blends traditional country influences with experimental pop production. Her music combines soft vocals, lush harmonies, banjo-driven melodies, and atmospheric electronic textures, creating what she describes as something akin to “an Oklou remix of Kitty Wells.”
