Typecast is a influential Filipino rock band from Santa Rosa City, Laguna, Philippines, formed in 1999. They started as an underground act in the local DIY punk and hardcore scene and over time evolved into one of Southeast Asia’s most respected emo‑ and alternative‑rock bands, while maintaining deep roots in the independent music community. Their early sound blended gritty emo, alternative rock, pop‑punk and post‑hardcore, helping define the Filipino emo/alternative movement in the 2000s. Their breakthrough came with the 2004 album The Infatuation Is Always There, which produced cult favourites and became a cornerstone of the local emo scene. Typecast gained wider attention with singles like “Will You Ever Learn,” “The Boston Drama,” and “Another Minute Until Ten,” earning them mainstream recognition and awards in the Philippines. They’ve shared stages with both local and international rock acts and continue to be celebrated for their emotionally resonant songwriting and powerful live performances. In celebration of their longevity, Typecast embarked on a 25th anniversary tour with fellow Filipino rock band Urbandub, bringing their music to audiences in the Philippines and internationally.
