Vanishing Point is a Melbourne‑based prog‑metal band formed in the early 1990s (originally under the name Eye). They released their debut album In Thought in 1997 — a record that helped establish them as a rising force in the Australian heavy metal scene. Over the years, Vanishing Point has evolved through several lineups and produced a string of albums including Tangled in Dream (2000), Embrace the Silence (2005), The Fourth Season (2007), Distant Is the Sun (2014) and Dead Elysium (2020). Their sound combines progressive metal, melodic metal, and symphonic‑metal elements — characterized by soaring vocals, heavy guitars, orchestral or keyboard layers, and a mix of progressive‑metal complexity with accessible melodies. They’ve toured internationally, shared stages with major metal acts, and are regarded as one of Australia’s defining melodic‑metal bands.
