Vektor is an American technical thrash metal band formed in 2002 in Tempe, Arizona, originally under the name Locrian. The band is known for blending the aggression of classic thrash with the complexity of progressive metal, incorporating intricate compositions and conceptual sci-fi themes. Their debut album Black Future (2009) established them as innovators within modern thrash. Follow-up releases Outer Isolation (2011) and Terminal Redux (2016) expanded their sound with ambitious storytelling and futuristic narratives, earning widespread acclaim from the metal community. After a hiatus beginning in 2016, Vektor returned in 2020 with a renewed lineup and began working on new material. Musically, Vektor draws influence from early Voivod, Coroner, and Destruction, marked by high-pitched vocals, fast riffs, and technical precision. Their lyrical focus on space, dystopia, and existentialism has made them a distinctive voice in progressive thrash.
