Virgin Soldiers are an Australian heavy metal band formed in Melbourne in 1981, emerging from the early wave of the country’s underground metal scene. Originally evolving from a band called Shaft, the group helped shape Australia’s hard rock and metal landscape during the 1980s with their energetic, riff-driven sound. Known for blending classic heavy metal with hard rock influences, Virgin Soldiers built a strong local following through live performances and releases such as their album *Watching the World* (1990). Their music is characterised by driving guitar work, powerful vocals, and a raw, traditional metal edge. After disbanding in the mid-1990s, the band reunited in 2018, continuing to perform and reconnect with audiences while maintaining their legacy as part of Australia’s early heavy metal movement.
