Warrior Soul is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1987 by vocalist Kory Clarke. Emerging during the late 1980s hard rock boom, the band stood apart from many of their contemporaries by combining aggressive hard rock and heavy metal with politically charged lyrics, social commentary, and a punk-inspired attitude. Warrior Soul's breakthrough came with their albums Last Decade Dead Century (1990) and Drugs, God and the New Republic (1991), both of which received critical acclaim for their raw energy, confrontational themes, and blend of heavy riffs with rebellious songwriting. While they never achieved the commercial success of some of their peers, the band developed a devoted international following and became influential within the hard rock and metal underground. After disbanding in the mid-1990s, Warrior Soul reunited in the 2000s under Kory Clarke's leadership and has continued releasing new music and touring internationally. Their later albums have maintained the band's signature mix of powerful guitar-driven rock, punk spirit, and outspoken lyrical themes addressing politics, society, and personal freedom.
