The West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) is Western Australia’s premier professional orchestra and one of the country’s most respected classical music institutions. Founded in 1928, WASO has played a central role in the cultural life of Perth and beyond for nearly a century, presenting a broad range of concerts that celebrate both the classical canon and innovative new works. Based in Perth, Western Australia, the orchestra performs regularly at the Perth Concert Hall and other major venues throughout the state, presenting more than 140 concerts each year to audiences exceeding 200,000 people. WASO also collaborates widely with world‑class soloists and conductors, and partners with the West Australian Opera and West Australian Ballet to bring rich, multidisciplinary experiences to life. Led by Principal Conductor and Artistic Adviser Asher Fisch, the orchestra is committed to artistic excellence, community engagement, and music education. Beyond the concert stage, WASO’s programs reach classrooms, regional centres, and diverse audiences — sharing the transformative power of live orchestral music across Western Australia.
