Zebrahead is an American punk rock band formed in 1996 in La Habra, California. Their music blends pop-punk, alternative rock, and rap-rock influences, drawing comparisons to acts like Sum 41 and The Offspring while adding a distinctive rap-vocal element. The original lineup featured vocalist/guitarist Justin Mauriello, vocalist Ali Tabatabaee, guitarist Greg Bergdorf, bassist Ben Osmundson, and drummer Ed Udhus. The band gained early attention with Waste of Mind (1998), followed by Playmate of the Year (2000), which included the hit title track that helped establish their reputation internationally. Subsequent albums like MFZB (2003), Broadcast to the World (2006), and Phoenix (2008) expanded their fan base, particularly in Japan and Europe, where they achieved gold and platinum sales. Known for their high-energy live shows and fusion of rap vocals with melodic punk hooks, Zebrahead has maintained a consistent touring schedule worldwide. They’ve shared stages with Green Day, Reel Big Fish, and Less Than Jake, and performed at major festivals including Summer Sonic (Japan) and Reading & Leeds (UK). After several lineup changes—including the departure of Greg Bergdorf in 2013 and co-founding vocalist Justin Mauriello earlier—the band introduced new guitarist Dan Palmer (ex-Death by Stereo) and, in 2021, new co-lead vocalist Adrian Estrella (formerly of Assuming We Survive). Their discography exceeds a dozen studio albums, including Brain Invaders (2019) and the EP trilogy III (2021–2023). In 2024 they released Working Title, showcasing a refreshed sound with Estrella’s addition. Zebrahead continues to tour internationally, blending old fan favorites with new material that keeps their hybrid punk-rap energy alive.
