Fragmented loops of sound shift and evolve in Jocelyn Campbells new work, lo-end. The unexpected combination of tuba (Nona Lawrence), double bass (Gwen Reed), and electronics (Campbell) shifts the ambient electronic genre into the analogue world. Theatreship becomes a space of the uncanny: what is live and what is recorded becomes unknown, as sound becomes embodied and disembodied in an ever-evolving wave of ambient music. Tuba and double bass accompany themselves through live and pre-recorded elements, memories that are eroded and disappear as soon as they become live. Sounds appear between memory and invention, presence and disappearance, and electronics and analogue.
Support comes from Pav - a London-based composer, producer and sound designer.
The closing DJ set - a combination of modernist music and electronics - comes from phonewifey, Campbells producer and DJ alter-ego.
