Storyville is a fairy-tale themed, 2 story bar down an alleyway on Lonsdale St in Melbourne's CBD. Created by Steve Thomas and Keti Kezunovic, the pair that started Pawn & Co and 29th Apartment, with the help of design guru, Josh Lefers.
Storyville's novelty bar theme centres around the use of large mushroom props, fake trees and specialty drinks. The two levels are very similar and operate as a bar and restaurant until around midnight. After midnight, the levels function as a makeshift nightclub with DJ and dance floor set up. On Friday and Saurday nights after midnight, it is usually $10 and goes until the mid morning. Outside of the nightclub hours, it is free entry.
The music is ranges between commercial and house music. Storyville has recently launched a wednesday night event, having been running a successful Sunday party for a number of years, as well as the weekly Friday and Saturday offering.
The crowd at Storyville is very mixed and largely depends on what time and day you go. As Storyville has a late license, it is a very popular post-work boogie for hospitality staff who finish late in the evening.
