Bio
Blood Incantation is an American death metal band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2011. The group consists of Paul Riedl (vocals, guitar), Isaac Faulk (drums), Morris Kolontyrsky (guitar), and Jeff Barrett (bass). Known for combining technical and progressive musicianship with atmospheric and psychedelic elements, the band has carved a unique identity within the modern extreme-metal scene. Their lyrics and concept often explore cosmic, metaphysical, and ancient themes—touching on human consciousness, alien civilizations, and space-time—setting them apart from traditional gore-based death metal. Blood Incantation released their debut album Starspawn (2016), earning underground acclaim for its complex structures and organic sound. Their 2019 record Hidden History of the Human Race brought them international recognition, praised for its ambitious fusion of death metal and cosmic psychedelia. In 2022, they shifted direction with Timewave Zero, a fully ambient and synth-driven album influenced by space music and 1970s prog, showing their experimental spirit. Their 2024 album Absolute Elsewhere blends death metal and ambient textures, further expanding their sound. The band is regarded as one of the most forward-thinking acts in contemporary death metal, frequently performing at major metal festivals and earning critical praise from outlets such as Pitchfork, Stereogum, and Bandcamp Daily.
