Dead Congregation is a Greek death metal band formed in 2004 in Athens, Greece. They are known for their brutally atmospheric and uncompromising approach to death metal, emphasising mood and density over sheer speed or technical flashiness — a style that has made them highly respected in the global underground metal scene. The band has released several records including the celebrated albums Graves of the Archangels (2008) and Promulgation of the Fall (2014), along with EPs such as Sombre Doom (2016). Their music is characterised by dark, oppressive tones, heavy riffing, and deep thematic material rooted in classic death metal traditions. Over more than two decades, Dead Congregation has built a reputation through intense live performances and international touring, and in 2026 they are touring Australia and New Zealand, bringing their atmospheric death metal sound to venues including Stay Gold in Melbourne.
