Bio
DZ Deathrays are a Brisbane‑based Australian rock trio formed in 2008 by Shane Parsons (vocals/guitar) and Simon Ridley (drums), later joined by Lachlan Ewbank (lead guitar/vocals). They began playing house parties before releasing two early EPs and their breakthrough debut album Bloodstreams in 2012, which won the ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album. Known for their high‑energy shows and explosive sound that blends elements of dance‑punk, noise rock and post‑punk with indie sensibilities, DZ Deathrays built a dedicated following nationally and internationally. They’ve released multiple studio albums including Bloodstreams, Black Rat, Bloody Lovely, Positive Rising: Part 1 and Part 2, and R.I.F.F., several of which have charted on the ARIA Albums Chart. Over the years the band have toured extensively — from Australia to Europe and the U.S. — and shared stages with acts such as Foo Fighters, Blood Red Shoes and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Their music has featured in triple j’s Hottest 100 and they’re celebrated for fusing raw rock intensity with danceable rhythms and punk‑era spontaneity.
