Bio
HAIL THE SUN is an American **post-hardcore / progressive rock band** from Chico, California, formed in 2009. They are known for blending technical musicianship with emotionally intense songwriting, combining elements of emo, math rock, screamo, and experimental rock. The band features a distinctive setup with lead vocalist **Donovan Melero**, who also performs drums in studio recordings, alongside Shane Gann (guitar), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass), and Allen Casillas (drums for live/studio support). Musically, Hail the Sun sits in the heavier, more technical side of alternative music, often shifting between aggressive post-hardcore sections and melodic, atmospheric passages. Their sound is commonly associated with progressive post-hardcore and “swancore”-adjacent scenes, alongside bands like Dance Gavin Dance and Circa Survive.
