Horatio Luna (real name Henry Hicks) is a Melbourne‑based bassist, composer, producer and bandleader who has become a highly respected creative force in the Australian music scene. Working for over two decades, he has pioneered a unique style he calls “Jazzy House” a seamless fusion of live jazz improvisation with house, funk, bruk (broken beat), and electronic dance grooves that bridges live performance with dancefloor energy. Luna’s work first gained international attention through his inclusion on Gilles Peterson’s Sunny Side Up compilation on Brownswood Records, helping to spotlight Melbourne’s vibrant jazz and soul community. As a founding member of the influential 30/70 collective, Luna toured Europe and the UK, further cementing his reputation as a forward‑thinking musician rooted in jazz, hip‑hop and electronic culture. He has released multiple records including his acclaimed projects Cultural Warriors and the dance‑leaning Boom Boom that showcase his blending of soulful jazz textures, house rhythms and experimental sounds. His music has been praised for its organic feel, deep grooves and genre‑defying creativity.
