Bio
Joan & The Giants are a Melbourne-based Australian alternative pop-rock band, originally from Western Australia. Formed in 2019, the four-piece is fronted by powerhouse vocalist Grace Newton-Wordsworth, alongside Riley Sutton, Chris Mackenzie and Liam Olsen. Their music combines soaring anthems, raw emotional storytelling, catchy hooks and energetic alt-rock instrumentation. The band gained significant attention after supporting P!NK and Tones and I at Optus Stadium and touring nationally with The Fray. They have also performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and shared stages with artists including Belinda Carlisle, The Vaccines, Weyes Blood, Eskimo Joe and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. Their breakthrough single “Born in the Wrong Time” earned a Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist spot and won Best Rock Song at the 2024 WA Song of the Year Awards.
