Bio
Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese singer, songwriter, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist known for blending jazz, classical music, and traditional pop with a modern songwriting approach. Based in Los Angeles, she first gained attention with her 2020 debut single "Street by Street" and quickly became one of the most influential young artists bringing jazz-inspired music to a new generation. Raised between Iceland, the United States, and China, Laufey studied classical music from an early age, performing with orchestras before receiving a Presidential Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. Her music draws inspiration from jazz legends such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday while incorporating contemporary pop sensibilities and deeply personal storytelling. Her breakthrough releases, including Everything I Know About Love and the Grammy-winning Bewitched, established her as a leading voice in the revival of jazz-infused popular music. She has been widely credited with introducing jazz and classic songwriting traditions to Gen Z audiences through social media, streaming platforms, and sold-out international tours. Beyond her recording career, Laufey is also an advocate for music education through the The Laufey Foundation, which supports young musicians and youth orchestra programs.
