Shag Rock are back. Hibernation period is over. After stacking Australian and international tours, playing the final Splendour in the Grass Festival, and making their hometown of Brisbane wait patiently for a headline show, it was time to embrace their true loves – creating a new record and running it all back. Born in the depths of the high school band room, they found solace in letting feelings reverberate from their youth, now with over 100 million streams worldwide and an ARIA Platinum Record for their single ‘Sunbleached Girl’. Fans have since followed them for tours across New Zealand, USA, and the salt-swept beaches of Australia. But it’s been 5 years since their double record ‘Double Overhead’ was released. A fair bit of life happens in half a decade. A fair bit of growing up and having to take three deep breaths when it all gets a little overwhelming. But at the core of Shag Rock, it’s always been about being there for your friends, creating music that you love, and sharing it with all who are willing to listen. Reconnecting with their melodic roots, harmonies, and jangled guitars, their new album is a sonically experimental way of displaying fragility in vitrines, something they are all too familiar with. They have etched a special place in the hearts of Australian music-lovers and they are ready to reconnect with an album that gives back to the fans who have stayed with them for the ride. Three Deep Breaths is a mantra of resilience, their third full-length record, and the bond that ties three members together for life. Shag Rock gear up for the release of their favourite album yet and a run of heaving shows in its wake.
The Night Cat was established in 1996 and focuses on Funk, Soul, Latin, Disco, Hip Hop and R&B genres. The Night Cat is not nightclub but more of a concert and show venue. The most iconic aspect of the venue is the central positioned stage, which in turn, means the crowd surrounds the stage the entire 360 degrees.
Imagine the The Night Cat, not as a band room, but rather a small and unique concert venue. This means that the crowd, music and busyness is entirely dependent on the artist playing.
