Bio
Fancy Weapon is a Melbourne-based Australian band featuring experienced musicians from the underground rock scene. The group brings together members who have been active in various influential projects across indie, alternative, and experimental music for decades. The lineup includes Mick Turner (Dirty Three, Mess Esque), Joel Silbersher (GOD, Hoss), Claire Birchall (Smoked Salmon, Paper Planes), and Guy Maddison (Mudhoney). Their collaboration forms a “supergroup” of sorts within the Australian underground music community. Their music is described as minimalist, guitar-driven, and experimental rock, focusing on texture, atmosphere, and repetition rather than traditional song structures. The sound blends raw indie rock energy with hypnotic and cinematic elements. Their debut work showcases a stripped-back but powerful style, reflecting the members’ backgrounds in post-rock, punk, and noise-influenced music scenes.
