Magic Dirt is an influential Australian alternative rock band formed in 1991 in Geelong, Victoria. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Adalita Srsen, the band emerged from Australia's underground music scene with a raw blend of distorted guitars, heavy riffs, and emotionally charged songwriting. Their early sound drew heavily from grunge, noise rock, and punk, earning them a reputation as one of Australia's most acclaimed live acts of the 1990s. After releasing a series of highly regarded EPs, Magic Dirt gained national recognition with albums such as *Friends in Danger* (1996), *Young and Full of the Devil* (1998), *What Are Rock Stars Doing Today* (2000), *Tough Love* (2003), and *Snow White* (2005). Throughout their career, they toured extensively and shared stages with acts including Sonic Youth, Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., Hole, and Foo Fighters. The band went on hiatus following the death of founding bassist Dean Turner in 2009, but reunited in 2018 and has since returned to touring and reissuing much of its celebrated catalogue. In 2023, they released their first new music in over a decade with a cover of "(I'm) Stranded" by The Saints, reaffirming their enduring place in Australian rock music.
